Call for Young Gypsy Writers!
Are you under 25 and a Traveller or Irish Traveller? Do you write songs, poems or stories? If you do, this book is for you.

"Romani Voices" will showcase some of the most exciting new writing by Britain's young Travellers, and is due to come out in 2010.

If you do write, what inspires you? It might be the traditional things about being a Traveller, like the Gypsy cob horses we see in the river at Appleby every year.

Maybe you have some stories that have been handed down in the family, and you can tell in your own style!

Or it might be the new things that young Gypsies are interested in. Life is different for the new generation. Not as many of us are on the road. What is life really like on sites these days?

Whatever your inspiration, if you've got an idea and have written about it then email it to UHPress@herts.ac.uk as soon as you can.

Closing date for entries is 31st July 2009. Full details can be found here.

To get your creative juices going, I'll leave you with one of the best looking coloured horses in a long time!

Good luck,

Danes, Young Times editor
