Save the Children has been working to support Gypsy Traveller young people in Wales for many years, writes Kathryn Kendall. Earlier this year we asked Gypsy Traveller young people for their ideas on what could be done to support them in getting their voices heard.

The result is our new project, designed to responds to their needs.

We will be delivering children’s rights workshops in a couple of local authorities in Wales, and talking to young Gypsy Travellers about their rights so that they can tackle the important issues.

We plan to support Gypsy Traveller young people to set up local forums.

And over the next three years we hope to set up a National Forum in Wales for Gypsy Traveller young people, so that they can have an even bigger impact on national decision making!
