Public asked for views on green belt options - latest stage of Joint Local Plan

The public are being consulted on the Green Belt Preferred Options document, the latest stage of the Joint Local Plan being developed by Chiltern District Council and South Bucks District Council.

Residents, businesses, community groups, landowners, developers and organisations are being urged to participate and give their views on the options for removing land from the green belt to help meet the districts' development needs until 2036.

It's important for people to understand that no decisions have yet been made and their views are extremely important in helping the Councils proceed with developing the Joint Local Plan, as requested by central government.

All councils are being faced with pressures to prepare up-to-date local plans. Chiltern District Council and South Bucks District Council agreed in December to work together, aiming to submit a robust and sound Joint Local Plan to government as soon as practicable while giving opportunities for engagement with residents, local groups and other interested parties.

A series of public exhibitions is planned to help people understand the Preferred Options and local plan process, where they can ask questions and get more information. The Plan, when complete, will determine the level of growth needed to be planned for to 2036 and how and where that development should be delivered. The consultation is running from Monday 31 October until 5pm, Monday 12 December, 2016.

The two councils received some 5,500 responses to a previous consultation earlier this year, which sought initial views on Issues and Options. Analysis of these responses has informed the preferred options document and it's hoped the public will show similarly high interest in this next stage of the Plan's development.
