Gypsies, Roma and Travellers on Film - 12th March Spalding - South Holland Centre

12 March 2016 / Charles Newland

We are very proud to announce the launch of ‘Gypsies, Roma, and Travellers on Film’, a day of film screenings and discussions organised by, for, and about Romany Gypsies and Irish travellers!

Our first event will take place on Saturday 12th March at South Holland Centre – located in Spalding town centre in Lincolnshire. Tickets are currently on sale here:

We’ll be screening BBC documentary Where Do We Go From Here? (1969), followed by the British classic Sky West and Crooked, starring Ian McShane and Hayley Mills.

Both films explore the relationships between travellers and the settled community. The screenings will have question and answer sessions as well as short introductions by filmmakers and journalists from gypsy backgrounds.

We hope for everyone to come learn and share their thoughts. We hope to dispel misunderstandings and prejudice — and welcome travellers, in particular, to come and watch films that celebrate their culture.
