Gypsy and Traveller Hate Crime Resource pack

14 April 2016 / Julie Colman

This is a free event to celebrate the launch our pack. Created through funding from the Independent Police Crime Commissioner this pack is intended to increase the confidence of statutory and voluntary services and Gypsy and Traveller communities to tackle hate crime. We know that reporting of this hate crime remains low and believe that key to increasing this is taking steps to improve trust between communities and services. Whilst we recognise there is much to be done to achieve this outcome, we feel a key step in this process is about increasing knowledge and media misrepresentation, as there are many myths that remain prevalent around their culture, The information which people receive about these communities can often be inaccurate and sometimes fuel negative racial stereotypes. The production of this easily understandable, well researched informative pack accurately reflects the reality of Gypsy Traveller lives in the 21st century and is a key tool for services in engaging with these communities successfully.

Expert Speakers, lunch and refreshments will be provided
