Have your say - new sites on horizon in Cheshire, Dorset, Luton, Gloucs., Bristol

19 April 2013

New work is being done to find out about the need for Gypsy and Traveller sites in several areas across England. The people doing the work want to hear your views on why better sites are needed for Gypsies and Travellers.

If you do choose to take part, your opinion will be kept fully confidential.

Your views could have a massive effect on whether local councils end up supplying new pitches for Travelling people.

Opinion Research Services, who are carrying out the new research, told Travellers' Times: "ORS is an independent social research company with extensive experience in carrying out Gypsy and Traveller and Travelling Showpeople Accommodation Assessments across the country.

"These assessments help local authorities to update their understanding of the accommodation needs of the Travelling Community and will assist them in making decisions around the potential allocation of land to improve accommodation provision.

"ORS is currently carrying out studies for the following local authorities: Cheshire West and Chester, Cheshire East, Halton and Warrington; Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole; Luton; South Gloucestershire and Bristol.

"ORS would like to speak to Gypsies and Travellers who are looking to live on a site or are living in bricks and mortar accommodation who would prefer to live on a site in any of the areas listed above.

"We are also interested in speaking with local and national representative groups."

If you are interested in taking part in a CONFIDENTIAL interview, please contact Claire Thomas on (01792) 535337 or email Claire.Thomas@ors.org.uk.
