Honorary MBE for Peterborough police officer for services to Roma community

A officer from Peterborough has received an Honorary MBE for ‘services to the Roma community’.

05/11/2015 - PC Petr Torak was presented with the honour from Rt Hon Mike Penning MP, Minister for Policing and Criminal Justice, at the Home Office in London. In addition to the MBE medal, Petr was presented with a certificate signed by the Queen and Prince Philip.

Petr, who is a member of the Roma community, works to ensure the Roma, Gypsy and Traveller communities are treated fairly and equally and does a lot of hard work to support local people.

Petr said: “I was very happy that I could share this important moment of my life with my wife, our children, my parents and a close friend.

“It was a very special experience for all of us. I am very proud to receive the award. It is enormous recognition for work that I do with passion and love.

“I want to act as an ambassador for young people from BME backgrounds. I hope they see a positive role model in me and choose police as their career choice.”
