What is a NHS Walk-in centre?

There are over 90 walk-in centres in England and you don’t need an appointment, just walk-in!

NHS Walk-in Centres are where you can see an experienced doctor or nurse for the treatment of minor illnesses or injuries

They will treat you for:

-       strains and sprains

-       broken bones

-       infections

-       coughs

-       colds.

What else do they do?

Walk in Centres:

-       give fast access to health advice

-       give advice on how to stay healthy

-       give information on local health services, including dentists and chemists

-       offer confidential sexual health advice.

Where are they?

-       Call NHS Direct on 0845 4647 to find out where your nearest walk-in centre is

-       Log onto the internet at www.nhs.uk for a full list of all Walk-in Centres

-       Ask in any doctor’s surgery or chemist, and they will be able to help.

When are they open?

Most walk-in centres are open seven days a week from 7am-10pm on Monday to Friday, and 9am-10pm on a Saturday and Sunday.

You don’t need to be registered at a walk-in centre, just walk in!
