The Mass, which took place late this summer, also celebrated the first anniversary of the Mission of Father Eltin Daly, a Priest who devoted his life and work to the Traveller community.

During the Mass there was singing, speeches, preaching and healing. There was also sermons and readings from several priests.

"It’s important to know lots of Travellers have contributed to the regular Sunday Mass and also contributed to the Feast of the Assumption Mass,” said Edward Doherty.

“It’s about bringing the Travelling community together. It’s important for the children as well. Look how many children came! It’s lovely to see.”

“A lot of Travellers are helping to organise this and promote and publicise the Mass so that Travellers can connect to what is important in our culture and our religion and it’s what we believe in."
