The Roaming Catholics
Gypsies, Roma and Travellers have been in Europe for many centuries- some for even longer. So it's no surprise that from Dublin to Dubrovnik, millions still belong to the Catholic faith.
Now, Pope Francis has opened the Vatican's arms by announcing a dedicated pilgrimage for Gypsies, Travellers and Roma to Rome from the 23rd-27th October 2015.
The Traveller Movement, a London-based charity that champions equality for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people, recently announced the Pope's plans to bring the communities more closely into the fold.
"In an official Letter from the Vatican, the Pope has issued a warm welcome to Gypsy, Traveller and Roma pilgrims planning to undertake the pilgrimage and provided useful information to help them plan their journey," say the Traveller Movement.
"The Vatican has also provided detailed information on Religious Houses for Accommodation in Rome and Camping/Holiday Park Accommodation," they said.
"For those intending to go on the pilgrimage you will need to complete a registration form by the 10th July. The Traveller Movement are currently in contact with the Vatican and will be applying to register a large group of community members. We are more than happy to help people if they have questions regarding the pilgrimage. You can contact us on 0207 607 2002," the Traveller Movement added.
