Up in smoke
For 500 years, Britain’s Gypsies and Travellers have survived everything life has thrown at us. From the genocide of the Egyptians Act, which made being a Gypsy a hanging offence, to the world wars, we’ve both died for this country and been persecuted by it. We are history’s most determined survivors, moving on and surviving through times both good and bad.
But while we’ve survived the bitternesses of history, there’s a poison in our lives that’s proving more effective at wiping us out than any law. And it’s one we’re paying for and giving to ourselves.
The fact is that Gypsies and Travellers are 3 times more likely to die from smoking related diseases. This film looks at what the effects of that are. It also looks at what you can do to not become part of that statistic. In short, this film looks at how you can avoid going up in smoke.
