The Mayor of London is leading a new survey to understand the accommodation needs of Gypsy, Traveller, Showmen and Roma people across London.

The charity London Gypsies and Travellers, who have been engaging with the London Assembly and the Mayor to campaign for more Traveller sites and stopping places, are urging Gypsies, Travellers and Roma in London to fill out the assessment surveys.

Watch the video below to hear more about the needs assessment and why it’s important to take part and have your needs heard!

“This needs assessment is to figure out the accommodation needs for the next ten years,” says Mena Mongan, London Gypsies and Travellers Engagement Officer.

“Councils won’t develop more sites or better housing without these figures,” added Mena Mongan.

“Please fill in these surveys.”

The surveys will show the need for different types of homes in the next 10 years, so that new sites, stopping places and better homes can be provided for the generations to come.

The research is being done by an independent consultant, called RRR Consultancy, who will ensure that all responses are confidential.

The researchers, who will be recruited from the local Gypsy and Traveller communities, will be visiting sites, yards and stopping places across London to do face to face interviews until December.

Gypsies and Travellers who live in bricks and mortar housing can fill in this survey by 23rd of December:

For members of Roma communities, there is a different online survey, which can be filled in here:
