Calling all Welsh Gypsies and Travellers – consultations launched for more and better Traveller sites

Welsh Gypsy and Traveller charities are encouraging Gypsies and Travellers in Wales to take part in government consultations that are aimed at delivering more and better Traveller sites.
Travelling Ahead along with Gypsies and Travellers Wales will support Welsh Gypsies and Travellers to respond to the following draft Welsh Government document, they say:
· Designing Gypsy and Traveller Sites
· Managing Gypsy and Traveller Sites
· Undertaking Gypsy and Traveller Accommodations
· Undertaking Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Assessment
"We will be conducting individual interviews and focus groups with community members from across Wales between April 1st and May 30th, 2025,” said a spokesperson for the two charities.
“We are inviting people to take part from every local authority site, as well people living in bricks and mortar, those on private sites, and those living roadside."
Travelling Ahead are also supporting community members to carry out their own interviews if they are interested – and they can provide the information and support to do this.
"We are reaching out to ask if you are interested in either taking part or could assist in inviting community members you know or work with to take par," added the spokesperson.
Please feel free to contact either Trudy/Lynne ( Travelling Ahead) Trudy Aspinwall Trudy.Aspinwall@tgpcymru.org.uk or Louisa ( Gypsies and Travellers Wales info@gtwales.org.uk ) if you are interested in taking part.
The charities are offering all Gypsies and Travellers £15.00 (per hour) vouchers for their time, and they anticipate that it will take around two hours to give feedback on all four documents (although it is not a requirement to answer questions/offer feedback on all, only the ones people feel relevant to them).”
