Something for the weekend...
Stadi on!: The Munteanu family are just one of many Roma groups performing in the London final of Travellers Got Talent at the Southbank Centre on June 19th
The Midlands and London regional finals for Travellers Got Talent will be held this weekend. Tomorrow, the Genesis Centre in Alfreton, Derbyshire will host the regional final for the Midlands and the East of England where up to 20 acts will battle to represent their areas in the national final on August 20th. Performers include the multitalented Irish Travellers the Doyle Family and Tracy Finney.
On Sunday, 25 acts will be competing at the prestigious Southbank centre in London. A mixture of English Gypsy and Irish Traveller singers will go head to head with many Roma bands now living and working in London. The final will welcome back previous winners like Johhny Gregory and newcomers to the competition like Georgina Chapman (pictured) from Kent.
Entry to both events is free, but bear in mind that the performances and the crowd will be filmed for the TV series A Gypsy Life for Me, to be shown on the Bio Channel from November 16th. Entries for both events are now closed, but there are still places available at the regional final in the north of England on June 26th in Winsford, Cheshire.
