Wagon looking for new home in the Fens

A SUSSEX-based man is looking to for a new home for his wagon in the Fens of East Anglia after finding out about its origins.

Julian Wolfe, from Billingshurst in West Sussex, discovered that the wagon was built by Abbott and Sons of Wisbech- an area with a large Romany Traveller population and home to the historic Wisbech Fair- probably between 1908 and 1912.

“I am now looking to ‘re-home’ this wagon. It would be nice to find a resting place in its area of origin. I thought it may be of interest to someone in the area who may remember this company or even whether they are still trading under that same name,” said Mr Wolfe.

“It is a longshot I know but I am wondering if this may ring any bells with your readers.”
