Friends Families and Travellers calls out for young Gypsy, Roma and Travellers to come to Parliament to meet politicians
“Are you 14-18? Then come and meet an MP for the day and help make a better future for Gypsies, Travellers and Roma” say Friends Families and Travellers.
A national charity has put out a call for young Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people to come and join them in Parliament to meet politicians who fight for GRT rights.
Friends Families and Travellers (FFT) are asking young GRT people aged 14-18 to fill in an online survey and answer a couple of simple questions and to leave a telephone number, and then they will be contacted about the meeting with the All Party Parliamentary Group for Gypsies, Roma and Travellers in Westminster, London.
Ivy Manning, FFT’s Community Engagement Worker, says that the event will be open to those aged 14-18 and from a Gypsy, Roma and Traveller community.
“Would you like to make a change for your future?” says Ivy Manning, who is a Romany Gypsy from Brighton and who works as the go between for the GRT rights supporting politicians, the GRT community and FFT.
“Come along to our meeting and have your say on what affects you. At the meeting you will get to meet an MP. An MP is someone who listens to the people that lives in their area and help to make a better future for you.”
“The All Party Parliamentary Group for Gypsies, Travellers and Roma are a group of MPs who can try and make life better for you. They are from different parts of the country and work together to make help make the change that you would want.”
