Macmillan Cancer Support comes to Appleby Horse Fair!
Free cancer information and support is coming to the Appleby Horse Fair next week.
Macmillan Cancer Support’s Mobile Information and Support Service will be visiting the area, with cancer information specialists on hand to answer any questions. The team encourages anyone – especially any men - with worries relating to cancer to stop by.
In the UK, around 500 men are diagnosed with cancer every day. Yet men often find it difficult to talk about cancer, let alone ask for support. We want more men to talk about cancer and ask for support if they need it.
And with summer fast approaching - the team will also be providing specialist information about sun safety and skin cancer (please note, the team will be unable to perform skin checks).
Skin cancers are most likely to appear on skin that is exposed to the sun. If caught early, they are very treatable and most people with non-melanoma skin cancers are cured with treatment.
Details of the visit:
Thursday - Saturday, 6 – 8 June
Appleby Horse Fair, Salt Tip Corner, Appleby-in-Westmorland, CA16 6XX
9am – 5pm (approx timings)
Su Higgins, from the mobile information team, said that they were there to answer questions: “When we visit the fair we’ll be on hand to answer any questions about cancer, she said. “Whether you want to know what symptoms to look out for, need advice about managing the side effects of your treatment, or want to find local support for carers, come along and see us. We’d be happy to help.”
