Wickham Horse Fair in Hampshire CANCELLED
This year’s Wickham Horse Fair in Hampshire has been cancelled, due to government directives following the coronavirus outbreak.
“We all need to play our part in stopping the spread of this infection and saving the lives of others, so unfortunately this year’s event cannot take place,” said Hampshire Police Superintendent Alison Heydari, who is the Commander in charge of policing the fair.
The fair normally takes place around the 20th May.
“Please pass on this message to anyone you know who had been planning to come, so that they don’t travel unnecessarily,” added Superintendent Heydari.
“We look forward to seeing everyone when the event next takes place in 2021.”
The decision was taken following consultation between representatives from the event and local authorities, including Hampshire Constabulary, Winchester City Council and Hampshire County Council.
The move comes after the cancellation of this years Appleby Horse Fair, Nottingham Horse Fair, and others.
