SCOTLAND – Consultation launched for Perth temporary Gypsy/Traveller stopping site

Perth and Kinross Council has plans to build a stopping site with amenities for Gypsy/Travellers in Perth.

The Council are now launching a consultation on the design of the site.

The site will be on the outskirts of Perth near the Food & Drink Park in North Muirton – marked by the red dot on the map below.

The council say that this area has been chosen because it has been a preferred stopping site for Gypsy/Travellers for many years and has historical significance to the community.

The plan for a transient stopping site with access to dedicated utilities and amenities will allow the Gypsy/Traveller community to stop in the area and avoid the necessity to set up unauthorised camps on land near local businesses.

The location is already a popular stop-off for encampments with historic significance for the Traveling community and the stopping site would provide people with a safe environment with proper amenities, add the Council.

  • Secure fencing and secure vehicle and pedestrian entrance.
  • An amenity block with separate male and female showers and wc’s.
