Jason Smith

My name is Jason Smith I am a welsh 23 year old Romany Gypsy. I’m profoundly deaf and really enjoy watching films. I’m particularly interested in how film can be used as a medium to tell untold stories about sections of society that rarely get an opportunity to voice their reality. I created a short for Channel 4 ‘Hotchi’ that explored my own experience of deafness in the Romany community. My interests are in Human Rights, LGBT issues and ethnic minority group rights and law. I’m passionate about preserving my ancient heritage and language that has been passed on to me by my ancestors. I’m a collector and seller of old things and am interested in antique old chrome trailers like Marshalls and Roma’s.
