Scarlett-Betsy smith

Scarlett-Betsy Smith is a 16 year old Romany Gypsy. She is a youth leader for Gypsies and Travellers Essex and an active member of  Travellers Times youth advisory team.  Scarlett  is passionate about spreading the history of our community, and challenging injustices that we face in modern society. Travellers Times gives her a platform to do that. https://www.travellerstimes.org.uk/features/young-romani-gypsy-and-traveller-people-participate-auschwitz-roma-genocide-remembrance.  Since she was 11,  every year she has attended Poland with the youth project Dikh He Na Bister project to commemorate the hundreds of thousands of Roma killed during the Second World War by Nazis. This has made her more determined to help tell our story.   In 2017 she was on Gypsy kids, our secret world, on Channel 5.
