Michael and James Down cock-a-hoop after raising £££ for charity!

Traveller Michael Down, 25, who owns a chicken farm in Oxfordshire, is using his company and social media channels to raise hundreds of pounds for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Michael Down breeds and imports all types of game fowl from around the world - many of which are ornamental show birds, like the Japanese Shamo stag Michael is holding in the photographs above and below.

Because of his popular Game Bird UK Facebook page and You-tube Channel, Michael - and his brother and UK Game Birds co-founder James Down - are well known among the game fowl fancying community – which is a massive hobby in the UK – and all over the world.

Every year Mike Down runs a competition on social media to decide the best kept show bird.
Contestants post videos of their own show birds, and the eventual winner wins £50 and a trophy.

Below: One video from the many posted on the popular Game Birds UK You Tube channel.

Well, this year the winner decided to donate the winnings to Great Ormond Street Hospital, so Michael set up a Just Giving fundraising page to see if they could raise more.

The goal for Michael and James Down the founder and co-founder of Game Birds UK is to both share interest in their hobby and to do something good for the community.

Well done Michael and James Down from all at the Travellers Times!
